LIVING FROM SELF

PRACTICING SELF LEADERSHIP IN THE REAL WORLD

OCTOBER 22-25, 2026
KANSAS CITY

A 4-day, in-person retreat for women who have or are currently working with Tara

YOU ALREADY KNOW THE WORK.

But something still isn’t landing in your everyday life.

Your understanding the nature of parts. You’ve had moments of connection to Self.

And yet, when it matters most—in relationships, in conflict, in stress—you lose yourSelf.

You may leave sessions feeling clear, only to lose that clarity once you return to your daily life. You find yourself reacting in ways that don’t feel aligned, even though you’re gaining understanding of what’s happening internally.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE IN THIS

Many women who are “doing the work” find themselves in a similar place. You might recognize yourself in some of the following:

  • You’re learning more about your parts but still feel blended with them in real time

  • You leave sessions with insight, but struggle to maintain it in everyday life

  • You over-function, shut down, or react before you can catch it

  • You understand Self energy, but struggle to be Self led in your days

  • You notice your patterns most clearly after they’ve already happened

  • You can hold space for others, but it’s harder to stay anchored in yourself

THIS IS ABOUT LIVING DIFFERENTLY

This retreat is designed to help you move beyond understanding Self and begin embodying Self leadership in real time.

Together, we will explore what pulls you out of Self and why, how your protective system organizes under pressure, and what it actually looks like to stay connected to yourself in the moment. We’ll focus on bringing Self energy into your relationships, your triggers, and your everyday life—bridging the gap between knowing and living this work.

This is not a passive or lecture-based experience. It is experiential, relational, and deeply personal.

THE FLOW OF OUR TIME TOGETHER

Thursday

Evening: Arriving & Settling In

We begin with a gentle arrival into the space. This evening is designed to help you slow down, orient to Self, and begin creating a sense of internal and relational safety.

Friday

Understanding What Gets in the Way

We will explore the patterns, protectors, and internal dynamics that pull you out of Self. The intention is not to fix anything, but to begin relating to these parts with more awareness and compassion.

Saturday

Practicing Self Leadership in Real Time

This is where the work becomes more active and experiential. Through guided exercises and supported relational experiences, you will begin to notice activation as it happens, stay with yourself instead of abandoning yourself, and practice leading from Self even in the presence of strong parts.

Sunday

Morning: Integration & Returning Home

We will focus on integrating what you’ve experienced and preparing to bring this work back into your daily life, not as a concept, but as something accessible and lived.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

This retreat includes guided experiential exercises, focused teaching, opportunities for real-time relational awareness, and space for personal reflection and integration.

The group is intentionally kept at a size that supports both depth and safety, and in addition to Tara, you will have access to trained assistants throughout the retreat.

There is no pressure to share beyond what feels right for you. You are invited into the work, but never pushed.

A NOTE FROM TARA

As many of you know, I’ve been practicing Internal Family Systems for over 15 years, and one thing I see again and again is this: many people understand the work, but struggle to live it when it matters most.

This retreat was created for that exact space.

Not to simply teach you something new, but to help you experience yourself differently—to stay with yourself, trust yourself, and lead your life from a place that feels steady, clear, and truly yours.

This work is quiet. It’s subtle. And it changes everything.

READY TO JOIN US?

You don’t need to be more prepared or have it all figured out. You simply need to be willing to show up as you are.

This work lands differently in person—in real time, in relationship, and in your body.

Spots are intentionally limited to preserve the integrity of the experience. Once the retreat is full, registration will close.

FAQ

  • No. A basic familiarity with parts and Self is sufficient. You don’t need to know everything—just enough to recognize the language.

  • No. This retreat is psychoeducational and experiential in nature and is not a substitute for individual IFS work with a therapist or practitioner.

  • Emotional activation is a normal part of this work, and the retreat is designed with that in mind. You will be supported through gentle pacing, grounding practices, and access to Tara and assistants if needed. You are always in charge of how deeply you engage.

  • No. There will be opportunities for reflection and connection, but you are never required to share beyond what feels right.

  • This is a small group experience designed to support depth and safety. Smaller breakout groups will also be utilized for purposes of supporting different learning styles.

  • You may choose between private or shared accommodations. If you are open to sharing, we can help connect you with other participants.

  • You will receive a detailed preparation email prior to the retreat. In general, comfortable clothing, a journal, and anything that helps you feel grounded will be helpful.

  • Due to the limited size and nature of this retreat, your registration secures a reserved space.

    All payments are non-refundable.

In the event that the retreat must be canceled or rescheduled, your registration will be transferred to a future offering. Please note that the retreat organizer is not responsible for any travel or accommodation costs incurred.

Participants are responsible for their own travel costs.

  • You’re welcome to stay wherever feels most comfortable for you.

Most participants choose to stay at the retreat location for ease, comfort, and convenience.

Staying onsite can offer a more immersive experience. It allows for a slower pace, less transition in and out of the space, and often a deeper sense of connection with the group. That said, it’s not required, and you’re encouraged to choose the option that best supports you.

If you’re considering sharing a room, we’re happy to help connect you with other participants who are also open to that.
